These Walls Can Talk: Investigating Your Home’s Past with HCF Archivist
Join Historic Charleston Foundation’s Archivist & Librarian, Shannon Duffy, on February 5 at the Capt. James Missroon House, for an engaging talk diving deeper into researching the history of your Charleston home. From modest dwellings to grand residences, each Charleston home holds layers of stories waiting to be uncovered. During this program, Shannon will introduce the local archival resources that can help illuminate your home’s architectural evolution, past owners and residents, and its place within the city’s historic landscape.
Historic Charleston Foundation’s Archival Collection is home to property files rich with architectural information, as well as historic photographs, slides, architectural drawings, neighborhood maps, book sources, and other materials that offer valuable clues to a home’s past. Participants will also learn about additional Charleston-area organizations and repositories that may provide further insight into their property’s history.
The Easement Education Series is designed as a free resource for Easement and Covenant owners of historic homes that co-steward their properties with HCF. Limited space is available. Easement and covenant owners are sent invitations directly and asked to RSVP to Joyce Pope, Easement Manager by phone at (843) 720-1180 or email at jpope@historiccharleston.org.
