Meet HCF's Newest Board Members


Katherine (Kate) Blanche Brumley Kronzer moved to Charleston at age five and has developed deep community roots grounded in service, preservation, and education. A graduate of Ashley Hall and the University of Georgia, she has spent much of her adult life supporting civic, educational, and philanthropic initiatives in Charleston and Charlotte.
Kate currently serves on the Ashley Hall Alumni Board and Executive Committee as Treasurer and is active in the Charlotte Assembly Debutante Club, and Jeans, Genes & Geniuses. Her previous leadership positions include the Good Friends of Charlotte, Myers Park Presbyterian Church, and its Weekday School.
A wife and mother of three, Kate is involved with First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, the National Society of the Colonial Dames, and several Charleston organizations dedicated to cultural heritage. She brings to the Historic Charleston Foundation a lifelong love of history and a strong commitment to collaboration and community preservation.

Steven (Steve) Strawn, chairman and founder of the nationally recognized healthcare technology company Imagenet, lives on Church Street with his wife, Andrea. Their daughter Paige, and her husband Grier have recently settled in Charleston as well. A passionate student of American history, particularly the years 1700 to 1865, Steve is an energetic supporter of preservation efforts and believes the Historic Charleston Foundation is uniquely positioned to meet the challenges of safeguarding the city.
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys sporting clays, wing shooting at Brays Island, boating, and scuba diving. Steve is also engaged in national cultural stewardship, maintaining involvement with the White House Historical Association, where he served for eight years and co-chaired the National Council. He has previously served on the board of the Phillips Collection.

Delores M. Whaley, a Charleston native, graduated from Burke High School, earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Allen University, and pursued further studies at The Citadel. With a lifelong passion for learning and teaching, she devoted 30 years to Charleston schools and later served a little over 25 years as Office Manager at Smith-McNeal Funeral Home.
She is an active member of Shiloh AME Church and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and a member of the former Choraliers Music Club. In retirement, she devotes time encouraging property owners to engage with the Common Cause Loan Fund, supporting preservation of historic homes.
