The Lost Architecture: April 2021 Edition

Posted: May 11, 2021

424 King Street. There’s no history of this building in HCF’s Archives. What is known is that Slotchiver & Sons occupied the site for many years and closed in 1964, and that a fire destroyed the building in 1996. The site is a parking lot now. (“Going Out of Business” advertisement, Evening Post, Nov. 9, 1964; “Deep Freeze Cold Grips Dixie; Fire Destroys Three Buildings,” News & Courier, Jan. 31, 1966.)
