JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary
The E-commerce and Retail Marketing Intern supports Historic Charleston Foundation’s revenue goals through the proper execution of all aspects of the retail operation through e-commerce and retail marketing.

Essential Position Functions and Duties

• Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Technology proficiency with the ability to learn all aspects of the HCF Point of Sale system. Familiarity with e-commerce platform Shopify a plus.
• Support all sales being rung up in a timely manner including drop ship orders.
• Assist fulfilling web orders and shipping in-store purchases in a timely manner.
• Support new item set up and ongoing maintenance to ensure accurate product descriptions, images, categorization, tags, pricing, shipping weight details, etc. Having photography skills and access to a camera is a plus.
• Follow all Foundation accounting policies and ensure accurate reporting and timely processing of paperwork.
• Strategizing with Receiving/Web Coordinator of new ways to drive volume through special projects and social media marketing.
• Create and partner with Marketing and Communications Department on sales initiatives through social media (content creation, strategy, etc).
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and climb stairs and a ladder.

Education & Experience Requirements
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in retail sales, shipping and receiving, inventory administration, related work, or school.

Time Requirements

The retail division operates seven days a week, closing only on select holidays. This position’s specific hours to be determined in conjunction with applicant’s availability.

Work Environment

Generally, the position requires extended periods of standing, sitting and operating the computer, and the ability to work in fluctuating temperature conditions.
