Program I: Thomas Jefferson the Art Enthusiast

  • On Wednesday, November 8th, HCF will welcome Dr. Emilie Johnson, Curator of Arts & History for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello to the Capt. James Missroon House. In this first session, we’ll explore Jefferson’s personal tastes and what drove his lifelong enthusiasm for collecting fine art.

Program II: Denmark Vesey’s Legacy

  • On December 13th, guests will meet with Dr. Douglas Edgerton, author and professor of history at Le Moyne College. Author of He Shall Go Out Free: The Lives of Denmark Vesey (1999), Dr. Edgerton will share his recent research and new discoveries surrounding the post-execution mysteries and controversies of Denmark Vesey.

Program III: Behind the Scenes of Appraisals and Auctions

  • Lectures will continue into the new year with a January 10th visit from art appraiser and Antiques Roadshow personality Lark Mason.
