The Courts and Alleys of Charleston

Date: 11/9/2017  |  Time: 6:00 PM

HCF's History Matter Lecture Series

The Courts and Alleys of Charleston

Historic Charleston Foundation historian Katherine Pemberton will present an illustrated talk about Charleston's many alleys and courts from the city's earliest development to the present.

Where are these small streets? How did they develop over time? Who lived there? These tucked-away and sometimes hidden parts of Charleston have alternatively been ignored, vilified and romanticized over the years. Katherine Pemberton has worked for HCF for over 20 years and also teaches a course in historical and property research in the Clemson/College of Charleston master's program in historic preservation.
