Stereographs of Civil War-Related Views in Charleston

Description

Eight stereographic cards (scans) bearing the images a variety of Charleston buildings:

a: View of the George Robertson House (1 Meeting Street) and Stevens-Lathers House (20 South Battery), taken before 20 South Battery was modified to add the fourth floor and mansard roof. Handwritten on back: "General Hatch's Headquarters."

b: View of the Old Exchange Building from ~2-8 Broad Street, looking east.

c: View of the Charleston Hotel.

d: View of the Holmes House that was at 19 East Battery. Handwritten on back: "General Saxton's headquarters on right of pictures."

e: East Bay Street buildings where 59-63 East Bay are today. At left is 59 East Bay Street (Commercial Cotton Press).

f: Building at the corner of Elliott and East Bay Streets.

g: View of the Mills House from the ruins across the street. Hibernian Society building at left.
