Dork-out with the Director: My Favorite Rats

July 12, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Ed Chappel and Susan Buck examine the south wall in the Nathaniel Russell Kitchen House

Historic Charleston Foundation is excited to announce a fun new way to engage with the Nathaniel Russell House Museum this summer – Dork out with the Director! (Director of Museums, Grahame Long, specifically.) This NEW summer program will bring the community extended hours at the Nathaniel Russell House every Wednesday this summer –  allowing you to explore this impeccably restored architectural gem.

While there, join Historic Charleston Foundation’s Director of Museums to find out some way-too-detailed answers to some of the Nathaniel Russell House’s most frequently asked questions and get a close up look at some Historic Charleston Foundations most important collections. This fun and engaging new summer program is great before (or after) happy hour, for an extended afternoon with the family, or to entertain guests visiting from out of town!

This complimentary program is free with admission to the Nathaniel Russell House Museum each Wednesday this summer. Guests can take a guided tour (last one starts at 4 pm) and then stay to “Dork out with the Director” to ask all of those burning questions.

On Wednesday, July 12, join us for Dork-out with the Director: My Favorite Rats, taking a closer look at the surprising items these little critters kept safely hidden away in the Kitchen House. Rats are some of the best preservationists and some of the discoveries thanks to rats have helped Foundation staff members understand previously unknown information about the space.  Dive deeper into these discoveries (and why they are the best little archeologists) on July 5 with Grahame Long, Director of Museums. Registration is not required and this program is free with admission to the Nathaniel Russell House Museum, tickets may be purchased online or in person.
