B&W reprint of a photograph of the view across Washington Square Park looking west, taken after the tornado of 1938.

Features the Charleston County Courthouse showing the two-story wing that was added in 1926 (behind the housekeeper's or jailer's house). At the right is the Timrod Hotel, demolished in the 1960s to make room for a County office building. (Caption on back of photo.)
