Postcard of the view east from Francis Marion Hotel across the parade ground (now Marion Square) at the Old Citadel. Landmarks include Calhoun Street, the parade ground of the Old Citadel and John C. Calhoun Monument, Citadel Square Baptist Church, Second Presbyterian Church. and the Grace Memorial Bridge (old Cooper River Bridge).

Caption on back: "In this view you get a glimpse of Historical Charleston. You see the Old Citadel, John C. Calhoun Monument, First Baptist Church and cooper River Bridge which alone cost about six million dollars."
