Photographic Survey of the McSleep Inn Site

Description

Seven color photographs of the site and vicinity of the proposed construction of the McSleep Inn. Located on the 60-block of the north side of Calhoun Street.

b: View of lot and rear of 60 and 64 Calhoun Street.

c-e: View west across rear lot of 60 and 64 Calhoun Street. The Gaillard Auditorium can be seen in the background of photo E.

f-g: Probably view east across rear lot of 60 and 64 Calhoun Street.

Currently the site of the Charleston County Public Library, which has the address 68 Calhoun Street.

Note: The zoning application for the construction of the McSleep Inn was the impetus for Historic Charleston to initiate the Calhoun Street Corridor Study. (Weyeneth, Historic Preservation for a Living City, 2000.)
