Fire at the Citadel / Calhoun Monument

Description

B&W photograph of a fire being fought at the Citadel on March 14, 1892, viewed from the parade grounds/public mall on the grounds of the Old Citadel, now known as Marion Square. The Calhoun Monument is in the foreground and crowds are gathered on the grounds.

Note that the Calhoun Monument was replaced a few years later.
