635 East Bay Street (Faber House) During the Second Restoration

Description

Five color slides of the Faber House (635 East Bay Street) during the restoration by Arthur Ravenel who purchased the house from HCF in 1971. Slides are dated February 1972.

a: Front of the house showing the southeast corner. Some windows are boarded up. Garbage receptacle at left. Nearby Amherst Street houses can be seen at left. Brick fence is partially constructed.

b: Left half of the front of the house. South dependency and neighboring Reid Street housing can be seen at left.

c: Lower portion of the front of the house. Sign posted in front: "Faber House 1834 - Restoration for the Future of the City of Charleston - Arthur Ravenel Jr. & Co. in Cooperation with Historic Charleston Foundation." North dependency can be seen at right.

d-e: Restoration of the rear of the house in progress.
