Retail Shop Associates
Part time, hourly, non-exempt. Hours vary with position. Generally, 15 -20 hours a week. Minimum rate: $10.75 per hour.
Historic Charleston Foundation (HCF), founded in 1947, is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) 3 preservation organization that champions the historic integrity, livability, and cultural character of the region through advocacy, stewardship, and education.
Reporting to the Manager of the Shop Historic Charleston (108 Meeting Street) retail sales associates will assist guests in the selection and purchase of merchandise that highlights Charleston Style and is often inspired by historic pieces found in our museum collection. Associates will assist in maintaining the appearance of the shop and the display of merchandise to encourage shoppers in support of our preservation mission.
Reporting to the Aiken–Rhett House Manager or the Nathaniel Russell House Manager, retail shop associates will assist guests in purchasing museum tickets and selling merchandise at the museum houses. Associates will greet and encourage guests to learn more about Historic Charleston Foundation, our programs, and our preservation mission.
Qualified candidates must have an interest in history, with two years related sales, customer service experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have good working knowledge of a computer-based point of sale system and excellent customer service skills.
