FOOD FOR THOUGHT LUNCHEON LECTURE (IN PERSON)
What do historical fashionistas, Yankee Doodle, and a favorite southern side dish have in common? They were all called ‘Macaroni’! Join public historian Carin Bloom of Living Herstory as she explores the revelation – and revolution – of macaroni and cheese, that beloved addition to generations of American families’ dining tables. She will talk about the evolution of the dish and how it was made, as well as make connections between fashion, independence, and pasta! Three centuries’ worth of macaroni and cheese recipes still exist in cookbooks, and Carin will show you where to find them. You will have the opportunity to sample some historical versions of the dish, so stick a feather in your cap and come ready to taste!
