What did early Americans drink in the winter? There are plenty of mixed drinks that were (and still are!) served hot, to thaw the belly and warm the soul during a long, cold winter. Even milder climes like Charleston saw their fair share of chill and drudgery – but never fear. These delicious drinks (with some unexpected ingredients) are sure to delight your palate, and the history behind them will brighten your evening.
