Corner of King and Wentworth Streets

Description

Reprint of a photograph showing the northwest corner of King and Wentworth Streets, with a view of the Hirsh Israel Building (275 King Street) and the Wentworth Street elevation of 273 King Street (Parish-Poincignon Building). Features pedestrian activity and cars.

According to Charleston Come Hell or High Water: The gazebo in the right foreground served as "a freestanding display case for the retail business of Hirsh & Israel Company...when the main building was razed some years later, [it] was moved to the residence of one of the owners on Rutledge Avenue and used as a summer house in the garden."
