Success Stories
Sharlestonians have, for more than a century, embraced preservation as a way to not only honor its rich past, but also to plan and secure its future. Beginning with the early preservation movement of the 1920s, Charleston has set the pace and the standard for preservation in America. Having created such innovative preservation initiatives as the Revolving Fund, Neighborhood Impact Initiative, and a far-reaching covenants and easements program, Historic Charleston Foundation has developed many of the initiatives that have been adopted by preservationists across the United States.
