How to Proceed
Preservation easements provide a vehicle for you to take an active part in Charleston's preservation. They also enable you to be eligible for certain tax benefits.

If you have property that you would like HCF to consider for an interior or exterior easement, contact the Preservation Initiatives Division at 40 East Bay Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401, telephone (843) 724-8486.

The Foundation holds an easement on the Manigault-Sinkler House, c.1872, at 5 Gibbes Street. Its facade displays a mix of Greek Revival and Italianate details.

Foundation staff will provide you with additional information, including a draft easement deed and the latest developments in the tax laws pertaining to easements. This material will allow you and your legal and financial advisers to make an informed decision before proceeding with the donation process.
