The Easement Holder (The Accepting Organization)
Tax law requires that preservation easements be held by qualified non-profit organizations or governmental units. Established in 1947, Historic Charleston Foundation holds protective covenants on more than 130 structures and has been entrusted with nearly 200 preservation easements over commercial and residential property in and around the city. The Foundation's easement program has received national recognition
